Bring it on, Sun!


I tend to make jokes about disasters because like George Clinton said, being freaky is my answer for the world being so scary. There wouldn't be a damn thing we could do about it if the sun blew up, and we probably wouldn't even know it until it was done and we were just floating energy. However, in spite of the fact that I too had a nightmare about this, and then went out and shook my fist at the sun when I woke up and asked if that was all it had, I don't think that this  forthcoming coronal mass ejection will be that serious either. Last I read there's about 5 billion years left in the sun's life before it starts to become a red giant, and it's destined to end up as a white dwarf rather than a supernova anyway. It's just having a hot flash today!
